Today was another day where we tried out an Italian restaurant in town, this time we went to Frank and Dino’s.
My husband was the one who spotted it downtown, I was surprised that he saw it before me since I am usually the quicker one to spot restaurants downtown.
We have been talking about it for the last couple months but haven’t had time to check it out yet, so this afternoon I asked him if we could get dinner there, he agreed and off we went.
We ordered calamari for our appetizer, we once had calamari at another restaurant and they were so good, and from that day when we order calamari at a restaurant we tend to compare it to the calamari we had that first time. The calamari that we had tonight was also very good, probably on par with our favorite!
They brought bread and butter, and I must say their bread is incredible, nothing like the typical American bread. If a restaurant wants to win my heart, they better have some good bread and great food, as soon as I saw the bread I told my husband this is some good stuff.
For entrée I had Fagottini Sinatra and my husband had Rigatoni alla Siciliana. My husband had a glass of pinot noir to drink (wine at an Italian restaurant is always good!), I ordered a virgin piña colada but they were out of coconut water so I went with a virgin tequila sunrise instead.
My pasta was extremely delicious, I almost asked for the recipe! I am thinking about how good my food was and I didn’t even get to taste my husband’s. Normally I always get a bite from his food, I just can’t help it so if I completely forgot to get a bite from his food you can imagine how great my pasta was.
We had a salted caramel brownie a la mode for dessert and when my husband asked me what “À la mode“ means and I said it means “trending”, he looked at me like what is this trending brownie?! He said are you serious? I replied yes because à la mode is a French phrase meaning trending, as in what’s trending. He then googled, and got two meanings, what I told him and something like it comes with ice cream on top of it, so we got that one and it was absolutely heavenly!
Our waitress Cathrine was super friendly and very nice. Before we left my husband asked me when I wanted to go back there, and I said that’s how good the food, drink, service and atmosphere were huh? He then said you already know babe.
